Secure Shell, commonly known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol employed to execute commands on a remote hosting server or to exchange data between a server and a client. Because the information exchanged by the two sides is encrypted, a third party can't intercept it, which makes SSH a preferred means of controlling an Internet hosting account. The commands which could be executed are determined by the type of hosting service. On a shared server, in particular, the choices are limited as you will not have root access to the server, so you may only create/move/delete files, set up and unpack archives, export and import databases, etcetera. They are all actions that are performed in the shared hosting account and do not require a higher level of access. By using a virtual or a dedicated server, you'll have the option to install server-side software or to restart the hosting server or just a particular service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted with a command line, but if you don't use a UNIX-like Operating System, there are plenty of applications for other OSs, you can use to connect to the remote web server as well.

SSH Telnet in Cloud Hosting

SSH access is provided with all cloud hosting service we provide. With some of them, it's provided as standard, while with others it is an optional upgrade you can add with a few mouse clicks in your website hosting Control Panel. You could get SSH access from the section related to it in which you will also find the information which you need to connect - the host, the port number and the username. You will be able to pick the password which you'll use and, if required, you will be able to modify it with a couple of mouse clicks from the same spot. If the SSH access function is permitted for your account, you shall also be able to upload files through your preferred FTP client via an SFTP connection.

All our semi-dedicated server accounts provide the possibility to access and control them via SSH. If the package you have selected includes this function by default, you simply need to activate the SSH access feature through the corresponding section of the Hepsia Control Panel. If the function is listed as an additional upgrade, you could quickly add it via the Add Services/Upgrades link in the Hepsia Control Panel and it shall be available within a minute. If SSH is enabled, you will also be able to set up an SFTP connection to the account and to upload data securely using any FTP application that supports the feature.
